About Me
I’m Kris, founder of the American Institute for Trauma-Informed Practice — where we don’t just talk about change. We build it.
With over two decades of experience in advocacy, social services, and trauma-informed training, I’ve seen how systems built without survivors in mind can cause more harm than help. I believe real healing starts when we restore trust — not just awareness, but action.
This isn’t reform. It’s a reinvention.
Restore Trust. End Harm.
My Story
For over 20 years, I’ve sat across the table from those systems failed — survivors of assault and trafficking, children in state custody, unaccompanied minors, individuals living with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQIA+ youth.
I didn’t learn trauma from textbooks. I learned it in real conversations, hearing stories systems tried to ignore. I saw how help, when done wrong, becomes harm. And I decided survival should never come with more suffering.
This isn’t a career for me — it’s personal.
Through the American Institute for Trauma-Informed Practice, I help organizations move beyond good intentions to build systems rooted in care, trust, and accountability. Together, we can create spaces where people are protected — not retraumatized — and where your mission is truly aligned with your impact.
